Unit 2 The myth of the melting pot

Our group basically thought that the main idea of this article was about people separating themselves from other nationalities due to the increase of immigration around the world. Another strong point that comes to mind is how foreign Immigrants will adapt to the American society. It also expresses how within the next century immigration will change our society for better or worse. Future problems may arise between cultures creating isolation between themselves.

We all agree because it arises questions about our society's future. Also because much of the incidents are occurring right now in our own neighborhoods. For some of us it creates a feeling of tension for fear of the loss of freedom, the control of power, and our human rights gone to jeopardy. We agree based on the facts that occur in population, an example would be the increase of the Hispanic population through each year. We agree with the fact that problems will arise in the future given the examples in the articles.

"One parent told reporters that if the Hispanics wanted to learn Spanish they should stay in Mexico."
